• Optimism over the economic prospects for the transport industry was boosted last week as it became clear that the level of business failures in the sector is falling ahead of most other sectors of the economy.
In November seven road transport companies went into receivership or liquidation, taking the total for the year to 85. For the same period last year the figure was 128, In October only three transport companies went to the wall; down 14%.
