• Portable weighing equipment specialist Hawkley is set to launch an electronic version of its single-axle weigher. The basic system consists of two weigh. pads connected to a portable, battery operated digital display unit.
Each pad can measure up to Electronic portable weighpads from Hawldey—note the cable tunnel for the far pad. 10 tonnes with a system accuracy of 0.2%. When in use in the field the manufacturer expects accuracy to be within 1% depending on the vehicle complexity and the ground conditions.
Pads can also be used in fours or sixes and a printer can be added if a hard copy is required. With the two-pad system the individual axle weight is displayed while on the four and six the total vehicle weight can also be read directly. The system can be also used in 'tare" mode to weigh a load directly by zeroing the readout when the unladen vehicle is on the pads and reweighing it when loaded.
The basic two-pad system will costs around £2,500.
