• Lucas is to add 90 asbestosfree linings to its aftermarket range of organic based linings for commercial vehicles and has added 23 asbestos-based linings to its existing range. The company says it is very satisfied with its aftermarket push, and expects to double its market share this year.
The new part numbers fit Leyland Daf and Mercedes vehicles, extending the coverage to 90% of the vehicle pare and some trailer applications. When launched the asbestos-free range will almost match the organic range although there will be greater emphasise on younger vehicles. A catalogue covering both ranges will be published around next March to coincide with the launch of the asbestosfree products.
Lucas has now launched its exchange brake calliper scheme starting with those for the Cargo. FL6 and Metrorider and will expand the range to cover all its fitments. The company says the units are remanufactured to OE tolerances and come with a sixmonth unlimited distance guarantee. For more information circle Turbo number 60.
Maintenance on Lucas's latest D3 disc is reduced by 30% over its predecessor, the D2. Longer
life for the pads comes from a larger friction area, up from 313ene to 470cm', and an increase in swept area from 895cm7 to 1048ce. Improved heat dissipation rates have reduced the temperature differential to less than 10°C from 80°C, says the company.
