Roadways reports Loss of £4m
ROADWAYS CONTAINER Logistics (RCL), the multi-modal operator, made a pre-tax loss of £4.2m on a turnover of £50m in the year ended 27 December 2008.
RCL was sold by Maersk just before the end of its 2008 tax year, to new start-up company Aegeus Transport.
In the directors report accompanying the Companies House figures, the company revealed the recapitalisation when it was sold left RCL in "significantly improved capital and liquidity positions",
The directors say that the company has continued to invest in vehicles, with 91 new Euro-5 HGVs ordered in 2008, together with 100 new trailers. They added: "The company is well positioned to take advantage of any upturn in the economy, and will report greatly improved financial results for 2009."
