THE Association of Metropolitan Authorities transport committee says four weekly returns demanded by the Department of Transport are unnecessary.
The forms, which have been sent to the Passenger Transport Authorities, require information about income, passenger journeys, vehicle miles and lost miles (including information about why the miles were lost) to be sent every month. The returns replace Quarterly Returns which were previously required.
Councillor David Silverman said that "these forms will. 'mean one more administrative burden for Passenger Transport Authorities. It will mean more paper, duplicating, information already provided in another way. And it is hard see how it will help anyone the buses running one j more efficiently."
While the informati gained from the forms wo be useful Cllr Silverman co not see that they justify 1 extra work involved for 1 PTEs.
Passenger Transport A horities, he said, have alree spent a great deal of time a worry producing Transpl Policies and programmes the Department of Transp and much of the informati contained in the new form I already been provided these.
