THIS WEEK CM's livery competition comes to the tipper operators. It is open to haulage and own-account operators, public utilities, public works contractors, and small fleets or large fleets, whether small vehicles or large vehicles.
The public image of the tipper operator is of a tough and too rough diamond who operates dangerous and dirty vehicles.
The operator knows different; we know different. Now is the opportunity to show the public how wrong they are.
Vehicle livery need not be ornate and costly to win the competition. The judges look at the colour scheme and the presentation. Does it tell the tale? Is the message it carries easily read and understood? Does the colour scheme intrude on the eye? These are some of the questions they ask.
Entry is simple and inex pensive. Here is what you have to do: 1. Obtain four half-plate colour prints of the vehicle to be entered. They must be of each side, back and front. We strongly recommend that a professional photographer is used; they normally get the best results. 2. Complete the entry form on this page and send it with the four photographs and a £5 entry fee to this address, made payable to Commercial Motor.
3. Entries must reach us by March 10. That gives entrants plenty of time, but they should not delay having the photographs taken.
