Dundee, Dundee, Dundee... so good they named it thrice! To celebrate the millennium, Dundee-based haulier PS Ridgway has joined forces with the City of Discovery Campaign to promote their beloved city. Two giant mobile artworks have been created which will drive the length of the country. from John O'Croats to Lands End. It was Philip Ridgway, chairman of PS Ridgway, together with his brother Donald, who came up with the idea for the millennium trucks.
This follows the success of three previous "Dundee" trailers, which used similar designs to promote the city. As well as bearing the campaign logo, the ERF EC11 38 cab and 13.6-metre curtainsider will pose the teaser: "Where was the first stamp stuck?" The design on the cab by East Haven artist Bob Faulkner represents past and future exploration, with images of Captain Scott's vessel RRS Discovery and the Discovery space shuttle. Philip Ridgway is also marking his own modest milestones; his 60th birthday (why, a mere spring chicken!) and 45 years in the transport industry.
