PALL-EX CEO Hilary Devey is joining the next series of entrepreneur show Dragons’ Den when it returns to BBC Two later this year.
The 53-year-old founder of Leicestershire-based pallet network Pall-Ex replaces former Dragon James Caan, who quit the show last month.
Devey says: “At a time when the banks are failing to invest in small British businesses, I am proud to be able to do my part to support UK entrepreneurs.” She adds: “In order to set-up Pall-Ex, I had to sell my house and car to get the start-up capital, as none of the banks appreciated my potential.
“I would have loved the opportunity to have stood before the Dragons, and I will remember my own experiences and the realities of running a business today, when choosing to support – or reject – the budding entrepreneurs in the Den.” Meanwhile Janice Hadlow, controller BBC Two notes Devey will be “turning up the heat on prospective entrepreneurs”. This is not Devey’s irst brush with TV stardom: she starred in Channel 4 show Secret Millionaire in 2009, and Channel Five’s The Business Inspector in 2010.
