• Walsall councillors are concerned at heavy lorries driving through the town centre to M6, when they could take the ring road. One suggestion is to impose a 5-ton limit. It is said that motorway direction signs recently placed around the town have been unsuccessful in persuading drivers not to take the town centre route.
Traffic was recently banned from the High Street as a first step towards a seven-year plan to keep central roads free of all traffic.
