man joins DfT
THE MAN WHO ran vehicle test stations for the past 10 years is taking up a new role in the Department for Transport.
As operations director of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), Bob Tatchell oversaw the start of a big modernisation scheme in test stations which began two years ago. Chief executive Maurice Newey says Tatchell has "contributed enormously to VOSA".
Tatchell says he has huge admiration for VOSA's front-line staff, adding that the organisation is "a powerful force for improving road safety and environmental standards and which seeks to provide a human face to the socalled 'ministry bureaucrat".
Jeff Belt, VOSA's finance and process director, takes over from Tatchell until a permanent replacement is appointed.
