Details of a New Product which Combines the Benefits of the Open Coach and the Totally Enclosed Saloon.
MANY owners and potential owners of motor coaches will no doubt be interested to learn that Leyland Motors, Ltd., are about to place upon,, the pas
senger-vehicle market an unusual type of quadruple-purpose coach, which should meet the requirements of thousands amongst the public who are at present chary of riding in vehicles which do not provide a high degree of protection against inclement weather, whilst permitting the full enjoyment of summer breezes when there is no danger of chill. The chassis employed will be the lightweight 0.9 model, which is fitted with the popular 36 h.p. engine, and, whilst being geared to give high speed on the level, has ample reserve for the speedy ascent of steep hills. Comfort is afforded by the use of 36-in. by 6-in. pneumatics.
The patentedbodywork enables the change to any one of the four purposes for which the vehicle is designed to be effected in a few minutes. It can be totally enclosed and then becomes virtually a luxurious saloon bus, used as an open saloon with a covered top and windows regulated to any desired height, or as a screened open coach, which is attained by sliding the top cover of black waterproof twill to the rear and fitting it into a neat hood envelope, leaving the side windows to form an effective screen, and, fourthly, by dropping these windows and their supports into the bodywork, where they are concealed by a handsome beading, which effectuallk camouflages their existence, the vehicle becomes an open coach in the true sense of the word.
The seating capacity of this vehicle is for 22 persons.
