B.A.A. DECISION ON P.S.V. OPERATORS AGREEMENT
Signing the Contract to be Left to Individual Judgment ADECISION on the future attitude of the Booking Agents Association of Great Britain, Ltd., towards the agreement required to be signed by agents, under the scheme being worked by P.S.V. Operators, Ltd., was reached last Monday night, at a meeting, iu London, of members of the Association.
The B.A.A. concurs with the general principle of thee P.S.V. Operators standard ticket book arrangement, but, for some timeft, certain of the members of the Association have felt that the agreement was unduly drastic, and many agents have objected to being restricted in their activities to coach-operating members of P.S.V. Operators, Ltd.
It has been felt that the scheme should have been given a trial for a year, at the end of which period any point re quiring modification could be discussed between the company and the Association. In those circumstances, the B.A.A. would, we understand, have encouraged every member to use the standardized ticket book.
At the meeting, last Monday, a lengthy discussion took place on the question of the agreement, and it appeared that most of the members were in favour of the standardized ticket book.
Iewas finally agreed that the Association should not persuade its members to sigu the agreement, nor should it discourage them against such action. The matter should be left to individuals to
decide, and it is probable that most of the members will now sign the agreement. Should there be any dispute concerning the operation of the agreement, representatives of the B.A.A. and P.S.V. Operators, Ltd., will confer.
It may be pointed out that the arrangement under which the company works was originally considered by the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association, Ltd., the idea being that the scheme would afford the efficiency and simplicity of booking control already offered by London Coastal Coaches, Ltd.
In December last, a meeting representative of 90 operators approved the memorandum and articles of association, the membership agreement and the agency agreement of P.S.V. Operators, Ltd.
