FORTY-TWO per cent. of the 1. regular daily stage-carriage services operated by the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., are unremunerative, said Mr. W. J. Womar, chairman. at the company's annual general meeting on Tuesday. Most of the special services for workers are also run at a loss, mainly because of the one-way traffic.
Mr. Womar said that the increased overall lengths to be permitted by the Ministei of Transport would enable extra platform space to be provided on double-deckers and 44 seated passengers to be carried in single-deckers.

VEHICLES, SAYS S.M.M.T. THE advisability of keeping vehicles well maintained while the shortage of new vehicles continues has been stressed by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The supply of spares for the majority, of vehicles is
good, states the Society, :whilst the repair and maintenance side of the industry is putting increasing emphasis on developing its repair and service facilities.
The S.M.M.T. says that the limitation orehome sales of new models is in the national interest. It would be unwise to assume that any substantial improvement in the present situation was possible in the next 12 months.
