A Truckel is sighted

A few weeks ago (CM17 23 February) the Hawk ran an impassioned plea from one Peter Kilden of Bromley whose father once drove for South London haulier, WM Truckel.
As a lad Peter joined his dad on jaunts round London during the school hols—but since those halcyon years he has been unable to unearth a photograph of a Truckel lorry. The firm sold out to St Albans Sand and Gravel in the late seventies.
Peter's prayer has been seemingly answered by reader Peter Davies of Flitwick, Bedford, who sent in this picture of a Truckel tipper. According to Peter (Davies) the vehicle is a "Rowe Hil'master seventonne, short wheelbase tipper. It appears to have a Neville body and would have been powered by a Meadows four-cylinder, 4DC 330 diesel. Gearbox also by Meadows— an eight-speed-constant mesh LR 250 C5. Note the tiny fuel tank: it must have been an economical motor! Rowe Hillmasters were built by MG Rowe at Liskeard in Cornwall." Thanks to Peter Davies for such detailed spec—one thing though: the phone number on the cab side, "Macaulay 4511"—can this have been a London number? Our Truckel was in Battersea, after all. The mystery deepens. Keep those Tnickels coming.
