offenders have been through the workshops. There are currently two a day, five days a week, 50 weeks a year; some 500 workshops a year. At present ASSCP is the only partnership to run these seminars, but there are plans to spread them nationwide.
I went along with mixed views: while grateful that I wasn't going to be fined, I wasn't looking forward to an afternoon of being hectored and patronised by road safety officials.
Thankfully it wasn't like that. Instead it was a thought provoking and intelligent seminar that has genuinely made me think about how I drive in urban areas. If this scheme can do that for everyone rather than simply adding to the points on their licence then it's a positive move. However, those looking at it as an easy way out of a speeding fine should note that you can only use this 'get out of jail free card' once...
