IN the latest programme of Trojan models there are several interesting light delivery vehicles. As is well known, their original mechaniCal features have met with wide appreciation. Each divergence from the conventional is intended to provide simplicity of operation coupled with durability and economy.
The latest innovation to be embodied in the design of the new 12-cwt. commercial model is a centrifugal clutch. It is a purely mechanical device, and enables the vehicle to be driven on top gear from a standing start if required. It obviates jerky acceleration and harsh gear changing. At road speeds above 10 m.p.h. the clutch automatically locks, so that the drive is positive.
Another introduction of recent date is the expanding-band type of differential. This is mounted in the near-side brake drum and gives efficient operation with the minimum number of parts.
By reason of the introduction of the centrifugal clutch, the new 12-ewt van is claiming first attention.
Also on the stand are examples of the 10 cwt. van of the standard type, with a loading capacity of 90 cubic ft., and the 12-cwt. Victory with a two-speed gearbox. This model offers no less than 102 cubic ft. of loading space.—Trojan, Ltd., Purley Way, Croydon.
