Building missing links and removing bottlenecks are key aims of an EC plan to spend £28bn upgrading Europe’s transport infrastructure. Kallas says it will include connecting 35 cross-border projects to reduce bottlenecks and 83 main European ports with road and rail links. Rail connections to cities from 37 major airports will be improved. The aim is to transform the EU’s roads, railways, airports and canals into a uniied transport system, known as TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network) For a mid-term evaluation of the TEN-T programme 2007-13 go to http://bit.ly/tIoCii ■
