A STOBART Group driver has been killed following an accident in which the lorry he was driving fell from a bridge onto the westbound carriageway of the M56.
Cheshire Police says the accident happened at 3.24pm on Monday (7 November) when the HGV left the road while travelling on a bridge over the motorway at junction 11. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The lorry, which was carrying household goods, landed on the westbound carriage way. The driver has been named as Tony Sainsbury, 42, from Walton in Liverpool.
Andrew Tinkler, chief executive of Stobart Group, says: “I can conirm that a Stobart driver was fatally injured in an accident on the M56 in Cheshire. The irm is helping Cheshire Police with its investigations into the cause of the accident. Stobart Group would like to pass on its sincerest condolences to the family of the driver at this extremely dificult time.”
