SMALLAND medium-sized hauliers struggling to keep abreast of their O-licence commitments could beneit from new software that aims to ease the burden placed on transport managers and save money.
Called Compliance Manager, the software from Foster-BNM covers day-to-day compliance issues that can often get overlooked.
Trafic management irm Trek Highway Services runs a leet of about 70 vehicles and has been using the software for 18 months. It claims it has been able to save the equivalent of one junior member of staff by using the software, as well as making savings on replacing parts that are still under warranty.
“It gives us total control of our leet at a touch of a button,” says Trek Highways chief executive Stewart Halsey. “Since we have started using the system fully, we have been hitting 98%-99% compliance with VOSA.” The software lists forthcoming tasks for the next 10 days, including booking services, outstanding defects, licence checks, overdue driver or vehicle downloads, training courses, induction procedures, and failure to submit tachograph charts.
If letters need to be sent to VOSA, the system automatically does it for the operator.
The software ranges from £1,000 to £5,000 a year, depending on the operator’s size.
