THE eight-hour driving day and the tachograph will zertainly not be forced upon as on January 1, 1976. This is the view of the United Road Transport Union's general secretary Mr Jackson Moore as expressed in the union Daper Wheels. Mr Moore says that the powers that be in 3russels will agree to a deferment, not a cancellation, of :he hours and tachograph )roposals, and that a fight will ;till be needed to get them lropped.
Mr Moore quotes Mr Neil armichael, Under-Secretary rf the DoE, as being "hopeful hat significant improvements will emerge" from the review )f the drivers' hours limitations :urrently being undertaken by F.EC authorities.
