THE GOVERNMENT's subsid scheme for school leavers take effect from January 4, but em ployers will still gain support fo eligible employees taken on be fore then.
Under the scheme, employer: can claim £15 a week for each eligible employee whose gros: earnings are under £40 a week £7.50 a week for each employe( who earns up to £45 a week, anc they can claim for any younç employee under 18 and in his al her first year of employment.
The maximum period o• payment of each employee is 1.; months, and payment will bE made to employers quarterly ir arrears.
