IMT go-ahead for new signs in Bath
BATH AND NORTH East Somerset Council is to introduce new signs to help prevent lorry drivers following sat-nay instructions getting stuck in narrow streets_ The new signs include symbols approved by the Department for Transport (DfT) and will replace written signs, to try to get the message across to foreign drivers Transportation policy manager at the council Adrian Clarke reveals that a crane was needed to move a lorry out of a narrow street in Bath in April.
"We have very narrow streets that aren't suitable for larger vehicles. We've improved signage to offer foreign drivers additional guidance. We are not prohibiting all vehicles from these places, but wanted to give more advice."
The signs are due to be in place "shortly" and each will cost around £200 to position.
