30-SEATER COACH ON 4: I 5-SEATER " ROAD
AN anomalous position regarding the size of vehicles allowed on the same road which joins. two counties, was revealed at Milnthorpe police court, when a coach driver was finechEl for driving a 30-seater coach on the Silverdale-Arnside road, part of which is iestricted to vehicles with not more than 15 seats.
• Through Silverdale village, which is in Lancashire, to the Westmorland boundary, big coaches are allowed, but beyond the boundary the road is restricted to 15-seaters.
The coach driven by the defendant was sees by a special constable in the Westmorland area, and the driver was later interviewed at Burnley by a police officer. The driver told the magistrates that he knew nothing of the restriction of the road,
CHIMNEY SWEEPS BANNED IN BUSES
CHEVENEY sweeps are not allowed to travel on the buses of the NorthWestern Road Car Co., Ltd., unless they take the trouble to see that their clothes and brushes are clean. As the result of this ban, there has been some comment at Stockport, where an official of the company' explains that this . action was taken because of complaints received from passengers. On occasions, buses have had to be taken off the road to be thoroughly cleaned.
