AN OVERLOADED tipper I cost a Cambridgeshire opera and one of its drivers 11,050 fines and costs.
Isleham-based Newman] Tipper Hire pleaded guilty to 1 offence before Bury St Edmu magistrates and was fined with £150 costs. Driver Steph Willson of Newmarket was fin 1450 with £150 costs.
Prosecuting for Suffolk Com Council Trading Standards, Nar Sultan said that a four-axle Vol tipper was stopped in a die and weighed. The tipper, carryi a load of dry soil, was found be a 8,260kg over its plated tonnes plated weight; an overlo of almost 26%.
Suffolk road traffic enforcemc officer Peter Westcott says: "TI was a serious overload and reflei the need for drivers engaged muckaway haulage to be vigila in checking their loads.
"We will continue to monit tipper operations as part of ong ing checks in Suffolk."
