Purposes
THE M.O.W.T. and the War Depart./ ment have agreed to certain arrange-meats for indemnifying third-party risk and damage to vehicles used in certain circumstances for Home Guard training purposes. They are as follow :—(1) The War Department will indemnify owner and/or authorized driver as set out, but only to the extent that either or both be not entitled to claim from their insurers. (2) Subject to the above, indemnification will be for : (a) all claims for damage and costs resulting from accidents during use for H.G. purposes (including journeys to and from place of assembly) in respect of death, bodily injury, damage to property or animal of any third party other than an unofficial passenger, viz., not on duty in connection with the II.G., and who should therefore not be carried ; (b) claims for loss or damage to vehicle, accessories and spare parts, including that by theft or fire, as in (a), except as in (3). (3) The War Department will not indemnify against damage by frost ; to tyres, other than as a direct result of a traffic accident ; depreciation or repairs caused by wear, mechanical or electrical'breakdowns, failures or breakages ; loss of damage to articles or effects carried in the vehicle (other than accessories or spare parts) ; loss of use; loss of ud-claims bonus; war damage ; claims from Unofficial passengers.
Where the indemnity applies to goods vehicles, certain deductions will be made from hiring rates. They are as follow:-5-25 cwt., 8 per cent. ; 2-5 tons, 9 per cent. ; 6-11 tons, 10 per cent. ; over 11 tons, 11 per cent.
