• A marked improvement in the domestic truck market in 1972 is forecast in the annual report of the British Leyland Motor Corporation. Total sales of BLMC trucks, vans buses last year was 193,000.
Lack of positive pronouncements about new commercial vehicle legislation is cited as one of the reasons for slackness in the truck business in the past two years. Cutbacks in orders from Australia and South Africa, both suffering economic recessions, added to the Home problems.
As recorded in CM recently, the Corporation's profit in the year ended September 30 1971 was £46.7m before tax.
