The rear corner pillars of the trailer are moved in and the curtain rails run around to meet it. giving space for the corners to be drawn around to the rear.
Computer-aided design techniques have been used to ensure that product integrity is retained and all in-service testing is backing this view. "We built the first CurtainClear double-deck trailer last February," says Wilson. -It has done well.
-The combination of Eco Curve on the front of the trailer and the radiused rear corners is delivering measurable improvements in fuel for our customers.
"We have 20 examples on the road with a number of operators, including Bleach of Lavant and many of the major pallet networks."
Wilson reveals to CM that
there are plans to make the product available on single-decker trailers and a version with rear doors will be ready for market by June. A retrofit conversion is also now ready for those operators who want to move their fleet over to CurtainClear.
Wilson is a pragmatic individual and recognises that there will be plenty of his competitors sniffing around CurtainClear.
The design is registered, the trademark is secure and the patent is in place with insurances to protect it.
"It's a fact of business life," he admits, "but we have a fund set aside to challenge any patent infringements, and we'll protect our designs and investment as strongly as possible. What you sec today are the fruits of a twoyear development and a big sixfigure investment.
"As you can imagine, we have other innovations coming through to ensure that W Trailer stays one step ahead."
