• A uniform standard aimed at significantly raising the quality of crash repairs on trucks is set to be introduced next year at hundreds of truck workshops.
The scheme is to be introduced among the 350 commercial vehicle repairers belonging to the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association and could spread to hundreds more belonging to the Retail Motor Industry Federation and Scottish Motor Federation.
The standard will govern the quality of work, service and equipment requirements and will be the equivalent to the European quality standard 1509000.
It will be coupled with independent quality audits at the garages by an outside agency—the Freight Transport Association is currently pitching for the business.
