The illustrations herewith depict a really excellent example of singledeck motorbus construction which has recently been added to the fleet of passenger -transport vehicles owned by Messrs. J. and P. Beavan, Pioneer Motor Works, Swansea.
The chassis was built by the Maudslay Motor Car Co., Ltd., Parkside. Coventry ; it is the concern's three ton standard type, fitted with a 40 h.p. engine. The rear-axle comprises the Maudslay patent one-piece bridge type of con
struction machined from nickel chi e.-st eel.
The coachwork is by Messrs. Jackett tiros., of Swansea, and was curried out to Messrs. Iieavan's own designs. It has a seating capacity for 30 pe.rsous, and the interior is luxuriously upholstered ; the seats are placed crosswise. There are three side entrances provided, and all the windows are made detachable. The body is of very sound construction, and a considerable amount of luggage can be carried
on the roof. The %lilting, both for the interior and exterior, is effected by the C.A.V. electric system.
The owners speak exceedingly well of the equipment, and we understand that he engine is most economical with regard to fuel consumption, the average ton-mileage which has been accomplished being 50 ton-miles to the gallon, on giveand-take roads. It is interesting to note that this is the second order that Messrs. Beavan have placed with Maudslays for a single-decker.
