-THE new Euston Square booking I office of London Coastal Coaches, Ltd., came into operation last week. A site 40 yd. by 30 yd. has been laid down with hard core and ashes to make a surface suitable for use as a picking-up and setting-down point for vehicles coming from or en route to Victoria Coach Station, although it is a terminal for the coaches of the Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd., and Hicks Bros.
In one corner an attractive building housing a booking counter and waiting room has been erected. About 30 vehicles, plus duplicates, use the site each day; they include coaches of Eastern Counties, Midland "Red," North Western Road Car and Standerwick-Scout.
The site, which is rented from British Railways and is close to the London Midland station, replaces that at Judd Street, which had to be abandoned on
December 31. Since then the road adjacent to the new station has been used for picking-up and setting-down.
MORE ORDERS FOR SCOTLAND?
HE National Union of Vehicle Builders is to enlist the aid of all Scottish M.P.s in an effort to save the vehicle-building industry in Scotland. Mr. D. C. Wassell, area secretary, maintains that Scottish factories have been hard hit by a shortage of orders. A larger share for Scotland of orders from municipalities, nationalized and privately owned bus companies is advocated, together with a "fair deal" for Scotland from various Government departments responsible for buying vehicles.
A Union spokesman has stated • that out of 600 new buses built last year for service in Scotland, the bodies of only 130 were made there.
