BELFAST CAR Ferries made a trading profit of £60,000 in its first year of operation between Liverpool and Belfast. This profit was gained despite a £0.5m loss in revenue because of engine problems on its ferry.
Although a spokesman for the company said it was difficult to give axact figures of freight movements during 1982 because of the breakdown, it had been ahead of budgets each month. In fact the last half of 1982 saw BCF as one of the major carriers in the Irish Sea.
The company managed to attain 80 per cent capacity on its freight carryings.
