• Salford Van Hire's ambitious plans in the contract hire sector look set to be backed by a 220 million investment in new vehicles later this year.
Managing director Rassaello Bacci says the £10 million order for 371 Mercedes vehicles (CM 25 April) will boost the company's spot hire fleet to over 2,400 this year — an increase of over 200 after disposals.
Now Bacci aims to boost the company's contract hire fleet, and has already ordered around 30 more Mercedes. He is looking at vehicles from Daf, lveco, Ford, Scania and Volvo to help boost the fleet further.
