Foden, the Hawk's canine chum, likes nothing better than a run out in the Reliant Robin. He is never happier than when his nose is poking out of the window, his tail wagging at a rate of knots, thwacking his long suffering master in the lughole.
But not for much longer, if inventor Geoffrey Brook from St Anne's-on-Sea, Lancs has his way.
He maintains that dogs and other animals who have free run in an open car present a dangerous nuisance. His solution to this problem is akin to a doggy straitjacket.
Before setting out on a journey, the disgruntled mutt would be placed in a sack which zips up around the neck and is fastened by buckles to a frame which clamps onto the seat.
Foden has been warned; if he sees signposts for St Anne'son-Sea, he knows he's in big trouble!
