Port of London trade Levels at all-time low
CONTAINER AND lorry trailei traffic ended up the biggest losers as the Port of London reported the lowest levels of trade for thc past 18 years.
Tonnage through the port which comprises more than 7C independently-owned terminal: and port facilities throughout the Thames, including Tilbury. fell tc just 45A million tonnes in 2009.
This 14% fall marks the lowest level in economic activity since 1992. In tonnage terms, the most significant decline was in container: and lorry trailers (unitised trades) which fell by 2.45 million tonne: (a fall of 16%) in 2009.
