mill. Could you tell me the basic wage rate for this type of work, and also if this rate is the same as for haulage drivers (my wage is £22.20 for 40 hours)?
ADrivers* minimum wages arc governed
by the Wages Regulations (Road Haulage) Order 1972 Statutory Instrument 581. This shows that a driver of a vehicle over 21 tons capacity outside the London area should be paid at the minimum rate of £20.38 a week for 40 hours.
Increases are proposed, however, under a new Road Haulage Wages Council agreement at present being considered.
