DASED on a Comrner Superpoise 25-cwt. chassis, a dual-purpose body for use as an ambulance for sitting patients or for the carriage of goods has been built by Pilot Works Ltd., Bolton. to the specification of the Rochdale medical officer of health.
Behind the cab, which has three seats, are two bucket seats, one at each side of the body. Access to these seats is through two doors, each with a low platform. The seats are fixed to the floor of the vehicle and the patients' feet rest on a platform sunk below the frame.
Two additional bench seats are positioned longitudinally at the rear. When the vehicle is used to carry goods, the bucket seats can be taken out and the benches folded back. Window space is generous.
The vehicle is fitted With Luvax hydraulic shock absorbers to provide the good riding qualities desirable when transporting emergency cases, or fragile hospital equipment.
