• Leyland Daf has extended the wheelbase options on the 65-210 to include extra-long chassis for removals operators and high-volume goods carriers.
The premium 17 tonner was launched at the Scottish IRTE Show in September; until now it has come with a choice of nine wheelbases, allowing body lengths up to 8.3m. The new 6.75m wheelbase can take a 7.92m body with a tail-lift and sleeper cab; a day-cab 7.5m wheelbase caters for the longest possible 10.05m body within the 12m two-axle limit.
Leyland Daf says that many high-volume operators are opting for the performance delivered by the 65-210 in preference to lower-powered rivals. Factory-built high-roof sleeper cabs for the 65, 75 and 85 Series are expected early next year; initially for municipal chassis.
Aerodynamics specialist Hatcher Components already offers its own high roof Sky Cab sleeper on the 75 and 85, priced at £1,980 (CM12-18 Aug).
Following the launch of its low-fifth-wheel-height 95 Series tractor Daf will soon be offering a lowheight version of the 75 Series for maximum-cube trailer operators.
