• The wife of a British truckdriver held in a French jail hopes to enlist her UK and au-o MPs in the fight to clear his name of a drugs charge.
Mitzie Barber says her husband John has received little support from the Foreign Office since his arrest on 1 October on the border between France and Spain. Around 240kg of cannabis, worth £750,000, was found in his load of Spanish oranges—he is adamant that he does not know anything about the drugs.
The British Consulate at Bordeaux says Barber is one of four or five British drivers who are in jails between Bordeaux and Bayonne in south-west France.
