• Hauliers who want to dispose of surplus semi-trailers can now sell them direct to any one of rental giant TIP's 20 UK outlets.
The Aylesbury-based firm wants to acquire up to 2,000 semis within the next 12 months; it has buyers waiting in the UK, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
TIP Trailer Rental is particularly interested in general haulage trailers but it will also consider specialist units. Managing director Sandy Anderson says sellers will be paid within three days of agreeing a deal; they will also by avoid the cost of advertising the trailers. TIP is expanding with funds from its new American parent, General Electric Corporation.
The deal, which was completed earlier this year, is also likely to lead to TIP repairing trailers for hauliers who do not have a rental agreement with the firm. It is spending some £3m to double its workshop capacity to 15 outlets by the middle of next February.
Hauliers with semi trailers to sell can contact the company's UK trailer sales director Alan Wilson on (0296) 395050.
