AROUND 50 Jobcentre Plus advisers in Yorkshire will get a brief taste of the logistics sector with rides in a modern truck, a visit to a major warehouse and a drive in a forklift truck.
This has been arranged by Yorkshire and Humber Freight Skills Group members, the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and Jobcentre Plus.to give the Jobcentre staff first-hand experience of the jobs and opportunities available for those wishing to work in the industry.
The event is being held at E Pawson and Son's facility at Europort in Normanton, West Yorks.
Gill Farnsworth, Jobcentre Plus director for Yorkshire and the 'lumber. says: "Fm delighted to see the Road I I aulage Association and Pawson committing time and effort to help our advisers get a better understanding of their industry and its needs."
Geoff Dunning,northem regional director of the RHA, comments: "We're very pleased that Jobcentre Plus staff will see the kinds of work we have on offer and experience some of the jobs available."
