A LACK of decent drivers and tough market conditions have taken their toll on a 44-year-old Norfolk haulage firm, which has closed down and will auction off its vehicles Kings Lynn-based Barry Burton (Road Transport) finished trading on 29 August.The company, which had an £800,000 turnover and carded out work for Travis Perkins and Williams Refrigeration, will sell off its fleet of eight Dafs, Vol vos and Mercedes through CVA Auctions on 20 September.
was ill a few years ago and my wife wanted me to stop," explains 62-year-old owner Barry Burton.
"You just can't get the labour and you become disillusioned. I'm very sad but also very relieved!"
Burton downsized the firm's operations after his son finished working for him a few years ago. He's visiting Spain with his wife before decidinl what to do next.
