POLICE HAVE arrested four men in Merseyside in connection with a series of truck thefts in the region. Officers swooped on eight addresses across St Helens, Sefton and Liverpool, with other searches at seven homes and a commercial premises still on-going.
They seized 100 ecstasy tablets and a quantity of white powder suspected to be cocaine, along with 300 cases of wine and vodka worth £20,000, believed to have been taken in a recent truck robbery in Humberside.
Zaak Mortimer, 22, from Kensington, has been charged with affray and escaping police custody, while Anthony Clarke, 23, from Toxteth. has been charged with non-compliance with court orders. Two other men have been released on police bail pending further enquires.
Chief Inspector Chris Arrnitt, head of the Robbery Reduction team, says: "Our message to these groups who are committing a variety of crimes, including cash-in-transit robberies, is that it will not be toler ated— and we will investigate robustly, and track down those responsible."
