POLICE RECEIVED 69 calls after a reconstruction of two truck hijackings on the A 1 4 in Cambridgeshire appeared on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.
The two incidents happened last month, in the early hours of 14 and 25 March; in both cases the driver was forced into the back of his cab and the tractor was then driven north (CM 5 April).
Detective Inspector Craig Harrison from Cambridge Police says it is fantastic that so many people called in and all the information and leads will be followed up. "We had a lot of calls from members of the public suggesting a few names of people who may be behind this."
But despite this, he says police are still appealing for information about the hijackings and would particularly like to hear from any other truck drivers who were parked up along the A 1 4 on the nights of the offences.
Anyone who has any information about the hijackings can contact Huntingdon Police on 0845 4564 564 or call Crimstoppers on 0800555111,
