PERMITTING A DRIVER to take insufficient weekly rest has cost JHB Enfield £1,454 in fines and costs, The company, of Summers Lane, London N12, admitted the offence when it appeared before the Barking magistrates.
Anthony Ostrin, prosecuting for Vosa, told the court that a vehicle belonging to the company and being driven by Radosi a w Wroblewski was stopped in a roadside check. An inspection of Wroblewski's tachograph charts revealed that he had drivenfor 10 consecutive driving periods without taking a weekly rest — the legal limit was six driving periods. When -Wroblewski had been asked why he had not taken the required amount of rest, he had replied: Boss said to work."
Wroblewski,of Queens RoacI,London Eli .pleaded guilty to failing to take sufficient weekly rest and using a vehicle with an insecure load.
He was fined £350 with £115 costs. The company was fined £1,000 with £454 costs.
