)LLOWING close on the publication of the white Paper on transport policy, with its plans a better future for British Railways, come the 1 facts of life. The BR Board itself has now lished statistics of its operations for the 12 ks up to June 18 this year.

But while passenger receipts e up by £1,067,000, or 2.6 per cent, freight :ipts were down by £1,142,000.
