The study, Attracting more managers into logistics, highlights the need for closer links between haulage and universities and colleges—and says the industry's profile must be raised for young people, teachers and career advisers.
Professor Colin Bamford, head of the unit, says: "Businesses in the supply chain have a great deal to offer prospective employees. The industry, however, has a poor image."
Ryder's human resource director Robin Cooper says: "Finally it has been highlighted independently that there is a need to improve management recruitment in logistics."
