• The Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G) has named the former national secretary for passenger services, docks and waterways as its new head of transport as part of an extensive restructuring.
As national organiser for transport, George Stevenson will oversee three national secretaries, including Danny Bryan, who used to head a T&G trade group. Other secretaries are George Hyde and Hon Webb.
According to a T&G spokesman, Bryan's role will "mean a widening of his remit".
The overhaul sees five new core areas: transport; manufacturing; food and agriculture; services; and women, race and equalities. Webb says the rejig will help the union "deal with European, political and industrial issues".
