.EADERS of our "People" page last week will have noted the RTA East Midland area has a new secretary. This follows the 3tirement of Alderman William Dyer, who has been 22 years in :le job. He will remain as consultant to the Association for another 2 months.
Alderman Dyer, who is leader of the Conservative group on iottingham City Council, plans to spend his retirement devoting aore time to civic affairs and studying law, an interest he has taken ip in recent years.
He began his association with the transport industry in 1940 vhen he became secretary of the Associated Road Operators Ltd. le is at present chairman of the city's transport committee.
At an eve-of-retirement dinner at the Bridgford Hotel, Nottinglam, last week, Alderman Dyer was presented with a desk and chair )3, the Association.
