THE Rowen-Are type TR a.c.-d.c. welder has been designed as a basic source of power for tungsten inert gas
and metallic inert gas processes. It is said to incorporate features which produce the most exacting TIG welding. The type TR welder is a combination ac. and rectifier-type d.c. arc welder designed to operate from single phase a.c. and deliver ac. current or straight or reverse polarity d.c. to the welding arc. It has a maximum output of 400 amp.
The unit has been designed, manufactured and field tested to ensure a versatile source of power. The apparatus is strongly constructed to give long life and good service The type TR is basically a static type of welder, and has no moving parts except for a motor-driven ventilating fan.
The unit is said to be very versatile and is applicable from job shop to pro duction line. With T1G it will weld aluminium, magnesium and other nonferrous metals, as well as highly specialized alloy metals. Mild steel, alloy steel and stainless steels may be welded by the stick electrode processes or T1G. Even hard surfacing electrodes may readily be used. It is easily switched from use on heavy plate to thin metal, from structural steel to boilerplate, or to thin gauge aluminium.
