SUFFOLK COUNTY Council is stepping up its campaign to persuade truck drivers to stay off minor roads.
Last week the councillor with special responsibility for roads and transport, Guy McGregor, visited drivers at the Risby truckstop to remind them about the Lorry Route N etwork, a map showing the preferred routes for heavy vehicles.
The council's campaign was partly prompted by complaints from residents in Suffolk villages including Great Barton and Pakenham. They say they have suffered from an increase in truck traffic as drivers try to avoid the weight restrictions that have been imposed on surrounding roads.
